July 10 finally saw the release of EXO's eagerly awaited album EXIST, which is already boasting a number of achievements! EXO already topped Billboard's Hot Trending Songs chart in June with the pre-release single "Let Me In" and now the popular boy band occupies several spots at the top of the charts!
Billboard has announced that four of the top 5 songs on the Hot Trending Songs chart are from EXO!
In first place is "Cream Soda," the title track from EXIST.
It is followed by the three B-sides "Love Fool" (2), "No Makeup" (3) and "Private Party" (4). And that's not all: within the Top 20 are three more songs from the album: "Regret" (6), "Another Day" (11) and "Cinderella" (13). So EXO takes almost half of the top 20!
Besides EXO, the chart also includes other K-pop songs such as Seven by Jungkook from BTS, Roller Coaster by NMIXX, and Black Clouds by NCT 127.
In addition, EXO has broken a personal record:
According to the Hanteo Chart, EXO sold more than one million copies of EXIST on the first day after its release: 1,074,914.
With this, the boy band has broken two records at once: The previous record of albums sold on the first day was 647,101, and the previous record of albums sold in the first week was 902,210 copies. Both were set by EXO in 2021 with DON'T FIGHT THE FEELING.
Now that EXO has already surpassed their personal best of one week with EXIST in just one day, we are excited to see what numbers EXIST will reach by July 17!
Not only has EXO outdone themselves with these numbers, but they are now one of the top 7 male K-Pop artists with the highest first day sales in Hanteo history!
The top six spots are occupied by Seventeen, BTS, Stray Kids, TXT, ZEROBASEONE and Enhypen.
The comeback didn't go quite as fans had hoped because Kai surprisingly had to report for military duty back on May 11. So unfortunately he is not in the music video for the title track "Cream Soda". But he is on both pre-release singles (Let Me In & Hear Me Out).
Congratulations to EXO for the new records!
Did you know that D.O. now has a personal Instagram account?
Finally, you can follow the singer with the deep voice on social media too! The account is only two days old, but already has 1.8 million followers. Are you one of them? You can find D.O.'s account here! You can find D.O.'s account here!
EXO debuted in 2012 with 12 members, of which nine are still left. However, Chinese member Lay is rarely active with the group anymore, focusing on his solo activities in China. Most recently, the other EXO members have also focused on their solo careers as they have taken turns to serve in the military in the past few years.
Xiumin was the first to enter the military in May 2019. By now, almost all of them have completed their service except for Kai, who recently said goodbye, and Maknae Sehun, who will probably be called up soon as well. So now it will be at least another two years before EXO returns with eight members. That's exactly why EXIST has a special meaning for fans.
