About Your Idol
The Netflix hit film follows a successful K-pop girl group called HUNTR/X and their rival boy group, the Saja Boys. But the two groups aren’t just fighting for the number 1 spot on the charts – they’re fighting for the fate of the world. That’s because HUNTR/X are actually demon hunters, while the Saja Boys are, in truth, demons.
“Your Idol” is the Saja Boys’ final performance, with which they aim to seal their victory over HUNTR/X. The song is about the boy group’s obsessive hold over their fans and serves as a ritual to capture their souls and summon the demon king.
In the film, HUNTR/X lead singer Rumi interrupts the performance, arriving just in time to stop the ritual with the help of her HUNTR/X teammates. In reality, though, the song can’t be stopped: fans have streamed it millions of times on Spotify and YouTube, catapulting it straight to the top of the US Spotify charts! That makes the Saja Boys the highest-charting K-pop boy group in the chart’s history, even surpassing BTS!
