BIOGRAPHY

Seungmin was born on September 22, 2000 in Seoul, South Korea. His talent as a singer emerged early on. In elementary school, he won a rhyme contest and began singing in a choir. Before he decided to become a singer, his dream was to become a baseball player. This dream was shattered due to an injury and other circumstances. So he focused on singing and worked hard to improve his technique.

Während der High School nahm Seungmin an einem offenen Casting von JYP Entertainment teil, zu dem ihn sein Freund überredete. Er belegte den zweiten Platz und trat JYPE im März 2017 bei. Noch nach seinem Debüt ging er zur Cheongdam High School und machte seinen Abschluss am 14. Februar 2019.

Am 11. Oktober 2017 kündigte JYPE die Survival Show “Stray Kids” an. In der Show wurde Seungmin als Sänger des “Male Group Projects” vorgestellt. Das “Male Project Team” war von Anfang an etwas Besonderes, denn im Gegensatz zu den meisten anderen K-Pop-Gruppen wurde es nicht von der Agentur gebildet. Stattdessen hatte Bang Chan selbst das Team aus insgesamt neun Mitgliedern zusammengestellt. Die Mitglieder waren: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Han, Changbin, Felix, Hyunjin, Seungmin, I.N und Woojin.

In the last episode of the Survival Show on December 19, 2017, it was announced that this very group that Bang Chan put together would also be making their debut. However, in October 2019, Woojin left the group for unknown reasons.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

In his career as the singer of the up-and-coming and charismatic group “Stray Kids”, Seungmin and his members achieved several milestones and surpassed themselves with every comeback. Since the list of their successes is very long, we have recorded some of the most important milestones for you here:

• As of August 2021, her album Noeasy has sold over 1,127,800 copies. This was the first time that Stray Kids and a group from the JYPE label broke the million mark.
• In March 2022, her album ODDINARY reached number 1 on the Billboard 200 charts for the first time.
• In August 2022, Stray Kids became the third Korean band to reach 10 million subscribers on YouTube, after BTS and BIGBANG.
• In October 2022, Stray Kids reached number 1 on the Billboard 200 charts for the second time in a row with MAXIDENT.
• In June 2023, Stray Kids reached number 1 on the Billboard 200 charts for the third time in a row with the album 5-STAR. They also broke the record for the most pre-ordered album in K-pop history at the time of its release.
• In November 2023, Stray Kids reached number 1 on the Billboard 200 for the fourth time in a row with their album ROCK-STAR. "LALALALA" also became their first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 charts at number 90.

Seungmin ist bekannt für seine Stimme. Er ist einer der talentiertesten Sänger der vierten Generation und seine Stimme war schon auf dem Soundtrack von verschiedenen K-Dramen zu hören. Außerdem hat er Solo-Songs innerhalb von Stray Kids Alben veröffentlicht und lädt auf Youtube immer wieder Cover von bekannten Künstlern hoch.

Im November 2023 wurde Seungmin (I.D 10017981) offiziell bei der KOMCA (The Korea Music Copyright Association) mit 20 Songs, die auf seinen Namen registriert sind, eingetragen.
