Just a few days after the release of "Proof", BTS announced a "hiatus" and shocked countless fans around the world.
Yesterday, the seven members of BTS sat down for dinner in a livestream and shared their plans for the future with their fans. The livestream made big waves, because in it the members explained that they want to take some time for themselves for now and that BTS will therefore take a break as a group.
RM says that since “Butter” and “Permission” he hasn't been sure anymore what kind of group BTS is. He points out that BTS has definitely changed and that they have to accept that. BTS has always had a message in their lyrics, and now RM is no longer sure which story he wants to tell.
He and the members agree that K-Pop and the whole idol system, in which groups like BTS are practically forced to keep producing music continuously, leave no time to grow more mature. That's why they first need some time for themselves.

As a result, various sources reported that BTS is taking a break, all the way to rumors that they are disbanding. However, the agency HYBE reaffirmed in a statement that BTS will continue to be active as a group, even if the members focus on their personal goals.
After more than 10 years together, it's only understandable that the guys want to work on themselves and experiment with their own projects in order to find themselves. Of course, we will get to witness parts of this personal journey. J-Hope has in fact already announced a solo album! So even though BTS won't be out and about as a group for the time being, we don't have to do completely without the guys!
Like us, they want BTS to exist for a very, very long time. To make that happen, though, this change is necessary.
