BTS stands up against discrimination towards Asians in Washington DC!
Nowadays, it's almost impossible to miss anything as a K-Pop fan when it comes to global sensation BTS. That's why you surely know that the popular boy group traveled to Washington DC to discuss hate crimes against Asians with Joe Biden, the President of the United States of America.
Since last year, the integration of Asians has been an issue of increasing importance as violence and discrimination towards them continues to rise in America.
As we all know, BTS has spoken out on politics before, and the members have even been appointed as special envoys of the Korean president to raise awareness of global issues such as sustainable development to future generations and to strengthen the nation's diplomatic power in the world. When it was announced that BTS was invited to Washington by the White House, fans had no doubt that the group would do its job well.
Yesterday, BTS briefly had a chance to speak at a press conference, where they thanked Joe Biden for the opportunity to advocate for this important issue. RM said it reminds them of what they can do as artists with their influence. Just a few years ago, hardly anyone would have imagined a K-pop band speaking about politics in front of the entire world.
We couldn't be prouder of the boy band using their influence to shine a spotlight on important political issues. We're excited to see what they'll accomplish together with their fans in the future!
“People care a lot about what you say, and what you’re doing is good for all people. It’s not just your great talent, it’s the message you’re communicating.” - Joe Biden
