The MTV Video Music Awards are one of the most prestigious events in the world of music and entertainment, honoring the best artists and music videos of the year. The awards were first created by MTV in 1984 and have since developed into one of the most important award ceremonies in the music industry. The event is known for its spectacular live performances, extravagant fashion and controversial moments.

These K-Pop stars were awarded as winners:

Stray Kids: The boy group won the award for “Best K-Pop Video” with “S-Class”. Besides Stray Kids, aespa (Girls), Blackpink (Pink Venom), Fifty Fifty (Cupid), TXT (Sugar Rush Ride) and Seventeen (Super) were also nominated in this category.

The award for “Best K-Pop Video” was first presented in 2019. Back then, the prize went to BTS “Boy With Luv”. BTS also won this category in 2020 and 2021. In 2022, however, first place went to Lisa of Blackpink with her debut song “Lalisa”.

TXT: The boys took the win in the category “Push Performance of the Year”! Specifically, their song “Sugar Rush Ride” from the fifth mini album “The Name Chapter: Temptation” was honored.

Jungkook: The maknae of BTS finally made his official solo debut this year with the single “Seven” and broke several records. At the MTV Awards, he won the category “Song of Summer” with the song!

Blackpink: Lisa, Rosé, Jennie and Jisoo took home two awards. “Best Choreography” for “Pink Venom” and “Group of the Year”. The girl group was nominated with “Pink Venom” in four more categories: “Best Art Direction”, “Best K-Pop Video”, “Best Editing” and “Show of the Summer”. Blackpink was nominated more often than any other K-Pop artist this year!

The star of the evening was Taylor Swift, as the singer was awarded eight prizes; most of them for her hit “Anti-Hero”. Among others, she won in the categories Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year.

We congratulate all the winners on their success!

In total, five awards went to South Korea this year, one more than last year:

In 2022, Seventeen, Lisa (Blackpink), Blackpink and BTS each won one award. From 2019 to 2021, only BTS was able to prevail against the competition from America.

We are excited to see which K-Pop artists will be at the top of the MTV Awards next year!
