Do you know Youha? The talented singer debuted in September 2020 with the self-written single "ISLAND".

With her soulful voice and charming smile, she immediately grabbed our attention! If you missed ISLAND and Youha's other singles like ICE T or Abittipsy, you should definitely give them a listen! Most recently, the first EP "love you more," was released in August 2022.

Youha recently came to Germany and sat down with our TikTok manager Sophia for an interview. Among other things, they talk about Youha's time in Germany, her inspiration, and her latest album!

(The interview was conducted in English. We translated it for you.)

Sophia: Hello everyone, this is Sophia from Nolae and I'm here today with the wonderful Youha who is going to answer some questions for me. Before we get into those questions, Youha, can you introduce yourself to all of your new fans?
Youha: Hi, my name is Youha and I am a singer-songwriter from Korea.

S: We're going to talk about music today mostly, but before we start, I really want to know, how do you like Germany so far?
Y: It’s so good.
S: Yeah?
Y: I really love it! So good food you know? And it’s christmas market season.
S: Right.
Y: I met my fans. It was my first time. They were so cool, kind and sweet. So i really loved it.
S: That's so good to hear.

S: If you were to describe your own music in three words, what would those words be?
Y: Love and passion and energy maybe.

S: As I told you, I love your music and I’ve been listening to your new mini album a lot so it’s kind of hard to pick a favorite song for me personally. I think it's Flower Rain.
Y: Flower Rain?
S: Yeah, I really like it.
So, I want to know, do you have a favorite song on your new album?
Y: Ah, it’s so hard to choose because they are my babies. But I actually like “Last Dance”. Because it's very sad you know and a little bit sexy and it’s the title one. So I like Last Dance a lot.
S: Thinking about "Last Dance" because it's your title track and you said it's a more emotional song, right?
Y: Yeah.
S: When we watched the dance performance video, you and your dance partner, you are kind of telling a story. Could you tell us a little more about the story?
Y: I really wanted the song and choreography to look sad. So my dance teacher taught me very detailed and I put a lot of effort into every practice.
S: You did a great job.

S: When did you decide that you wanted to become a singer and what was the inspiration?
Y: I really liked to listen to music since I was young. So naturally growing up in my mind -
S: Like a childhood dream?
Y: Yeah.
S: That's so cool.
Y: Yeah, haha

S: But you are not only a singer right, you are also a very skilled songwriter? For example - correct me if I'm wrong - but you worked on songs like "Paint The Town" by Loona -
Y: Right.
S: - and “What I Said” by Victon.
Y: Yeah.
S: Really great songs!
Do you have a specific artist in your mind that you would love to write for?
Y: I really wanted to write a song for IVE and Blackpink too. But you know they are already superstars. So yeah, that’s just my dream.
S: But I can imagine that. It would really fit well.
Y: Really?
S: Yes, I think so.

Besides Paint The Town, Youha also penned the lyrics for other Loona songs like "WOW" and "Not Friends". She has also written songs for the girl groups bugAboo and Class:y, as well as for the survival show "My Teenage Girl", in which Class:y was formed.

S: But when it comes to your own music, what is your biggest inspiration? Do you have an artist that inspires you, or just everyday life?
Y: Actually, it's just me, you know. Me and my fans. They are so sweet and I really love them.

S: Do you already have some new music in store that will come out soon?
Y: That's actually a big secret. But yes, I am working on something these days. Please stay tuned.
S: What is your favorite song of this year?
Y: Definitely Last Dance by Youha.
S: That's right.
Y: The Ep Album "Love You More" is my favorite.
S: You should listen to it.

Have you listened to the album yet?

S: What goals do you have that you really want to achieve?
Y: I really want to become a better singer, improve myself and make a good album. And one day I wish i can perform in Germany, I really want to do it.

S: And finally, is there something that you want to say to your fans?
Y: Thank you so much for always supporting me and taking care of me and loving me. I love you. I love you so much.

S: Yes, that was good.

We are honestly surprised how good Youha's pronunciation is. German is very difficult for most foreigners, but we clearly understood every word!

Y: It's hard, but singing. Because I'm a singer.

S: Ariana Grande or Beyoncé?
Y: Beyonce? Yeah, she's a queen.

S: She is.
Y: But I also love Arianna.

S: Getting up early or sleeping in?
Y: Sleeping in.

S: Iced Americano or Hot Chocolate?
Y: Iced Americano.

S: Would you rather be the smartest person in the world or the richest?
Y: Richest?

S: Netflix or Youtube?
Y: Youtube, i love youtube.

S: Last one: Would you rather have a time machine or a magic wand like Harry Potter?
Y: Harry Potter.

That's it! It's really heartwarming to see how much Youha loves her fans. We really hope that her fan base will grow even more this year. And it seems like we can get excited for new music soon!
