Fans will have to get used to NCT and WayV without Lucas in the future

A few hours ago, SM Entertainment announced that Lucas, a member of NCT, WayV and Super M, will be leaving the groups. This news comes after a controversy surrounding the artist regarding his past behavior towards his ex-girlfriends.
Lucas debuted as a member of NCT in 2018 and also joined Chinese unit WayV in the same year. In 2019, he also made his debut in SM boy group SuperM, along with Taeyong, Mark, and Ten of NCT, as well as members of SHINee and EXO. He quickly gained popularity among fans for his charming personality and impressive rap skills. However, in August 2021, Lucas became embroiled in a scandal after rumors surfaced on the Internet about his treatment of his ex-girlfriends.
In response to the allegations, Lucas publicly apologized on August 25, stating that he had made mistakes in his past relationships and was working on becoming a better person. SM Entertainment also issued a statement and announced that Lucas would stop his activities for the time being to reflect on his actions.
Unfortunately, the situation does not seem to have improved, as SM Entertainment has now announced Lucas' departure from NCT and WayV. The agency stated that they had been discussing the matter with Lucas for some time and ultimately came to the conclusion that it would be best for Lucas to leave the groups. Lucas also spoke out on his personal Instagram account, thanking his fans for their support.
Lucas has not been involved in any NCT or WayV albums since August 2021. In his absence, NCT released the studio album "Universe" (Dec. 2021) and WayV returned as a six-piece with the mini album "Phantom" on Dec. 9, 2022. But now that Luca's departure has been finally decided, it will undoubtedly feel different for fans in the future. Many of them were still hoping for Lucas to come back for a long time and kept asking SM Entertainment for updates.
In today's statement, the label said nothing about SuperM or his contract with SM Entertainment. Instead, SM asked to continue to support Lucas, who will pursue individual activities in the future. This could mean that while Lucas is no longer part of NCT and WayV, he is still working with SM Entertainment.
