IZ*ONE's Yuri, T.O.P and more are joining Squid Game 2!

In 2021, the action thriller Squid Game captured the hearts of viewers around the world and won numerous television awards, including six Emmys and a Golden Globe Award. Back in June 2022, Netflix already confirmed that the mega-hit was getting a sequel. Now, almost exactly a year later, the actors have gathered for the first script reading:

After numerous rumors that have made the rounds in recent days, all actors are finally confirmed!

Among them are experienced actors like Kang Ae Shim (Divorce Attorney Shin), Lee Jin Wook (Sweet Home), Park Gyu Young (Sweet Home) and T.O.P, who is best known to many as a member of the K-pop boy group Big Bang.

T.O.P's return to the screen in particular has fans excited, as the singer and actor was last seen in a film in 2017; in the German-Chinese production "Out of Control". His last Korean Film "Tazza: The Hidden Card" (2014) was even longer ago. Are you looking forward to seeing T.O.P as an actor again?

Supporting them are younger talents who started their acting careers after 2020:

Won Ji An (Heartbeat), Noh Jae Won (Missing Yoon), and Jo Yuri (Mimicus). Jo Yuri, however, is not an unknown face to K-pop fans. In fact, it's none other than the solo singer who broke records as a member of the popular girl group IZ*ONE!

David Lee, who played VIP #3 in Squid Game, is also back.

And those are just the cast members confirmed today. Two weeks ago, Netflix already made an initial announcement and reported the return of Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, and Wi Ha Joon from season 1, among others.

Lee Jung Jae played the main character Seong Gi Hyun, number 456.
Lee Byung Hun played Hwang In Ho, the game master.
Wi Ha Joon played a police officer who sneaks into the Squid Game to find his missing brother.

In addition, new faces for season 2 have already been introduced in this announcement:

Im Siwan (ZE:A, Emergency Declaration), Kang Ha Neul (When the Camellia Blooms), Park Sung Hoon (The Glory), and Yang Dong Geun (The Forbidden Marriage).

We can hardly imagine seeing all these stars together on one screen, but it will undoubtedly be a great spectacle! Squid Game 2 is scheduled to air in 2024, so unfortunately we'll have to be patient, but at least we now have a small glimpse of what to expect.
