About a month and a half ago, we told you about the Loona boycott and summed up the events that led to it for you. A lot has happened since then and we want to give you a short update so you don't miss anything!
The boycott was a success!
On December 22, Loona's agency Blockberry Creative announced in a statement that Loona's comeback has been postponed indefinitely.
"After listening to the opinions of Orbit and many other people, we have decided that comeback activities are pointless, as various concerns about the members' situation have not been resolved. Therefore, the new album, 'The Origin Album: 0', which was supposed to be released on January 3, 2023, is postponed indefinitely."
Four Loona members won their lawsuit against Blockberry Creative!
Back in November, 9 of the 11 Loona members who are still with the agency filed a request to have their contracts paused for the time being.
On January 13, fans received the happy news that four of the members - Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul and Choerry - won the lawsuit! The five remaining members - Haseul, Yeojin, Yves, Olivia Hye and Gowon - lost, however. This is because their contracts were changed one or two years ago and were not considered unfair.
Since then, fans have naturally been hoping that these five will somehow be able to get out of their contracts too. There was also the question of what will happen to the two remaining members - Vivi and Hyunjin - who did not sue Blockberry Creative like the others. Today there is finally news!
Vivi and Hyunjin have also filed a lawsuit today:
According to JTBC News, the two of them have a contract similar to those of Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul and Choerry, who recently won their lawsuit. That's why it's very likely that Hyunjin and Vivi will be able to share good news soon!
Blockberry Creative has filed a petition against Chuu!
Loona fans have another reason to be upset. Loona's label filed a petition against Chuu on February 1, who was removed from the group back in November. According to Blockberry Creative, she breached her contract because she was already in talks with a new agency before she paused her contract with Blockberry. The goal of the petition is that Chuu has to stop her activities for the time being.
Blockberry confirmed the news and explained that they will also file a petition against the other four members who won their lawsuit: Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul and Choerry.
These four have not yet released a statement, but Chuu spoke up on Instagram yesterday. She posted the following message in a story: "It is really exhausting and sad that I have to explain my position over and over again. Lately, it seems that defamatory articles based on false reports have gone too far.”
We wish Chuu and the others lots of luck and hope that they can soon free themselves completely from Blockberry Creative!
