SF9 is now on the road with eight members: Rowoon has left the group.

The boy group SF9 has unfortunately only eight members since yesterday, as Rowoon wants to continue to focus on his acting career in the future.

FNC Entertainment, the agency of SF9, has announced yesterday in a statement that Rowoon has left the boy group after seven years. He will be active primarily as an actor in the future, and SF9 will continue with eight members. Rowoon, however, will remain with FNC Entertainment. In conclusion, the agency asks fans to continue supporting SF9 and Rowoon.

Rowoon's decision to leave SF9 was met with mixed feelings from fans. Many perceived him as an important part of the boy group. But it's probably not too much of a surprise to most.

Rowoon started his acting career back in 2017 with a small role in the K-drama "School 2017."

This was followed by other supporting roles in "About Time" and "Where Stars Land". Each role was slightly bigger than the previous one and already in 2019 Rowoon got his first leading role in the fantasy series "Extraordinary You". The series was a huge success and earned the singer not only several nominations, but also the Best New Actor Award at the MBC Drama Awards!

Since then, Rowoon has appeared regularly in leading roles. He played an intern in "She Would Never Know" (2021), a royal tutor in "The King's Affection" and an angel of death in "Tomorrow" (2022). This year is no exception: currently his latest series "Destined With You" is airing and a new project called "The Wedding Battle" has also been announced.

Because of his acting projects, Rowoon has been absent from SF9 activities several times.

For example, he was not involved in the eleventh mini album "The Wave OF9" , which was released in July 2022. But for the twelfth mini album "The Piece OF9" in January this year, Rowoon was back. Therefore, fans had hope that he will stay with SF9 for a while, even if he sits out in between.

But he has apparently decided to take up acting. In a handwritten letter, he apologized to fans for misunderstandings and for not always being there for them. He also expressed his gratitude for the past seven years:

"I have participated in the planned activities and am grateful for each and every precious memory over the past seven years. As I write [this letter] and look back on my life, I am filled only with gratitude. This is also a thank you to everyone." - Rowoon

Rowoon is looking to take on a new challenge and hopes his fans will continue to watch over him.

The members of SF9 are currently doing their military service one by one. Most recently, Jaeyoon said goodbye to the fans in March.
