For years there were rumors of the debut of a new girl group from YG Entertainment, the agency that has produced stars like BigBang and 2n1. In 2014, however, the boy group Winner first made its debut, followed by iKON in 2015. Seven years after the formation of 2ne1, YG's last girl group until then, the time had come. In June 2016, Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé were introduced one by one as members of Blackpink. The name means that the group has two sides; that they not only have beauty, but also tons of talent to offer.
The 4 girls may not have been completely unknown to fans at the time, as they were all introduced as trainees by YG Entertainment back in 2012 and appeared in music videos by artists from the same agency, for example, or even had a singing part in their songs.
Blackpink has made it clear very quickly with various records that they want to be at the top!
G-Dragon`s song "Black" was recorded together with Jennie, who even performed on stage with him in 2013. Jenni also appeared in his music video "That XX" and was part of the song "Special" on Lee Hi`s album "First Love" from 2013.
Lisa was the first foreign trainee in YG Entertainment; as the only one out of 4,000 applicants from Thailand, she passed the audition and moved to Korea. She was featured in the music video for "Ringa Linga" by Taeyang from BigBang in 2013, although only seen in the background, and was already promoting YG`s fashion brand Nona9on and cosmetics brand Moonshot before her debut.
Jisoo appeared in various commercials and music videos, such as "Im Different" by the unit "Hi Suhyun," consisting of AKMU`s Suhyun and Lee Hi, both artists under YG Entertainment.
She also made a guest appearance in the K-drama "The Producers" in 2015 with other YG Entertainment artists.
In 2012, "Without You" by G-Dragon feat "? Of YG New Girlgroup". ? later turned out to be Rosé.

Blackpink has released 5 Korean albums in the five years of their career so far, which is relatively few compared to other idol groups, some of which make comebacks several times a year. Perhaps that's why fans are especially eager for any new song from the band to add to their playlist.

On March 12, 2021, Rosé debuted with her first single album "-R-" and the title track "On The Ground," which reached #70 on the Billboard Top 100; at the time, the highest ranking by a Korean solo singer on the charts. With over 448,000 copies, Rosé's "-R-" also holds the record for the number of albums sold by a Korean solo singer in the first week of its release.
For those who couldn't get enough, a 240-page photo book for "-R-" was sold separately from the album.
This year, YG Entertainment announced that Lisa will also be releasing a solo album!
Of course, the members are not only in the music business, but also show their talent in various other areas.

Lisa
Lisa has published photo books consisting of her own photographs in 2020 and 2021: "0327" and "0327 Vol.2". She is also the ambassador of various fashion brands such as French luxury brand "Celine", "Penshoppe" and Italian luxury brand "Bulgari". In addition, in 2020 and 2021, Lisa was a mentor for dance in the Chinese survival show "Youth With You" (Season 2 & 3) and impressed fans there with her hard-hitting criticism and strictness towards the trainees, especially because she also handed out praise and motivation at the right moments.

Jennie
For her solo debut, Jennie was involved not only in the music but also the outfits, concept and choreography, putting together more than 20 outfits for her music video. Because of her fashion sense, she has already been invited to several fashion events and was appointed as an ambassador of "House of Channel". She was also the first Korean woman to model for "Bucheron Paris," a 160-year-old luxury jewelry brand.

Rosé
Rosé was named the first global ambassador for "Yves Saint Laurent" in 59 years in 2020, and this year was named global ambassador for jewelry brand "Tiffany & Co". She is also in the Guinness Book of Records for being the first to top the Billboard Global Charts both solo and as part of a group.

Jisoo
Like the others, Jisoo is also interested in fashion and was appointed as a local ambassador for "Dior" in 2019. As the only member of Blackpink so far, she is also currently building an acting career. After guest appearances in music videos and a brief appearance in the K-drama "Arthdal Chronicles," she has been confirmed as the lead for the series "Snowdrop," which has already been fully filmed and is scheduled to air this year.
