BIOGRAPHY
As a child, Jeongyeon initially failed an audition for JYP Entertainment, but was later accepted into the agency following an open audition in March 2010. She then trained for five years before debuting with Twice.
6MIX was a girl group planned by JYP Entertainment that originally trained with a different lineup. But before their debut was finalised, one member left the group. To fill the gap, Jeongyeon was added to 6MIX, and plans were made to launch the group in the second half of 2014. This revised lineup of 6MIX had almost completed preparations and was close to debuting. However, leader Lena unexpectedly decided to leave the agency, once again halting the group's debut. In the end, 6MIX never made it to the stage.
Later, in 2015, Jeongyeon took part in Sixteen, a reality show designed to determine the final lineup of Twice. In the last episode, she secured her place as one of the group's nine members.
TWICE
TWICE is a popular South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. They officially debuted on 20 October 2015 with their first mini album “The Story Begins”. The group consists of nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.
The long-established group has celebrated many successes in recent years. We've summarised the most important ones for you:
- Within five months of release, the music video for the title track "Like OOH-AHH" had been watched 50 million times. It was the most-viewed debut music video by a K-pop group. The video later even surpassed the 100 million mark.
- In 2016, the song "Cheer Up" became a massive hit and won "Song of the Year" at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA).
- In 2017, TWICE successfully debuted in Japan with the single "One More Time", which broke the record for the best-selling single by a K-pop girl group in Japan.
- In 2018, they held their first arena concert in Japan and released the Japanese album "BDZ", which reached number 1 on the Oricon Charts.
- In 2019, TWICE launched their world tour "TWICELIGHTS", which was a huge success and took them to cities all around the world.
- With the release of the singles "More & More" and "I CAN'T STOP ME", they achieved high chart rankings and cemented TWICE's status as a leading K-pop group.
- In 2021, they released their first English-language single "The Feels", which performed well on various international charts.
- In 2022, TWICE reached number 3 on the Billboard 200 with the album "Formula of Love: O+T=<3", their highest chart entry in the US.
- In 2023, TWICE released their twelfth mini album "Ready to Be" and announced their fifth world tour.

Jeongyeon officially debuted as a member of Twice in October 2015 with the release of their first EP “The Story Begins” and lead single “Like Ooh-Ahh”.
In June 2016, SBS announced that Jeongyeon, together with her sister, actress Gong Seung Yeon, and actor Kim Min-seok, would be the new host of the music programme Inkigayo. She hosted the show until January 2017 and, together with her sister, won the "Newcomer Award" at the 2016 SBS Entertainment Awards.
Jeongyeon was recognised multiple times for her popularity, consistently ranking among South Korea's top 20 most popular idols from 2016 to 2019 in the annual Gallup Korea survey, alongside fellow member Nayeon.
In 2020, she was diagnosed with a herniated disc and underwent surgery – just a week before the release of Twice's album "More & More". Former reporter Lee Jin-ho speculated that her subsequent weight gain was due to steroid medication commonly prescribed after spinal surgery. On 17 October 2020, JYP Entertainment announced that Jeongyeon would take a break due to anxiety. She returned to the stage on 31 January 2021 at the 30th Seoul Music Awards, but took another break on 18 August 2021 due to panic and anxiety disorders. JYP assured fans that she would receive the best possible medical care and enough time to recover.
In February 2022, Jeongyeon resumed activities, joining the North American leg of "Twice 4th World Tour III". Later that same year, she renewed her contract with JYP Entertainment alongside the other members, securing the group's shared future.

- TWICE's leader was determined by an anonymous vote. Jeongyeon came in 2nd place.
- The name Jeongyeon means "virtuous" and "beautiful" in Korean.
- She is ambidextrous, but her left hand is dominant. She can throw and write with her right hand, while eating with her left.
- She has two dogs: a white Pomeranian named Bbosongie and a poodle named Nanan.
- She is close friends with Somin of KARD.
- Jeongyeon admitted that she nearly dropped out of her training because she wanted to work in a bakery; she even considered opening her own bakery.
