Heeseung (희승) was born on October 15, 2001 in Uiwang, South Korea. He attended Gwangnam High School. Heesung was a trainee for 3 years and 1 month. On June 2, 2020, Heesung was announced as a participant of CJ ENM and Big Hit Entertainment's reality survival show I-LAND.
Jungwoon (정원)) was born on February 19, 2004 in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, South Korea. He attended Namgang High School. His life as a trainee began in January 2017. One year and four months later, on June 2, 2020, Jungwon was announced as a participant of the show I-LAND.
During the finale of the Survival Show I-Land, "Enhypen" was introduced as the name of the new group. The name is derived from the symbol "-", which is called "Hyphen". Just as Hyphen connects words, Enhypen's goal is to connect and create something new together.
