About Takedown
There are two versions of the song: the film version, sung by the voice actors, and the official soundtrack version by Twice.
The film is about a three-member K-pop girl group called HUNTR/X. The world celebrates them as singers, but behind the scenes they hunt demons with the goal of wiping them out completely. Their tools include not only swords, but also their music. When a charming demon boy group suddenly threatens their fans, things get serious for HUNTR/X.
To win their fans back, HUNTR/X want to defeat the Saja Boys at the Idol Awards with a diss track called “Takedown”. With the song, HUNTR/X express their disgust for demons and declare that they won’t be fooled and will strike the demons down. They even describe wanting to cut them up and rip out their hearts.
The Twice version was released digitally a day before the film’s release and had already been streamed 4 million times within a week. “Takedown” attracted attention for its dark mood, which stands in stark contrast to Twice’s cheerful and playful image.
The film is a complete success: it ranks #1 on Netflix in 26 countries, and songs like “Takedown” or “Golden” topped the charts worldwide! It’s a hit with both K-pop fans and other viewers alike, as shown by the millions of views and the worldwide trends on social media.
