BIOGRAPHY

Tzuyu (쯔위) wurde am 14. Juni 1999 in Tainan, Taiwan geboren. Ihre Eltern - Huang Yenling & Chou Yicheng - besitzen eine Klinik für plastische Chirurgie und mehrere Cafés. Tzuyu hat außerdem einen älteren Bruder, der lieber privat bleibt.

From a young age, Tzuyu enjoyed dancing and trained at a dance academy. In 2012, she was discovered by talent scouts when she performed at the “MUSE Performing Arts Workshop” in her home town Tainan. Tzuyu then moved to Korea and trained with JYP Entertainment for three years. In 2015, she competed with 15 other trainees for a place in JYP's new girl group. She was successful and debuted as a member of Twice on October 20, 2015.

TWICE

TWICE is a popular South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. They officially debuted on October 20, 2015 with their first mini album “The Story Begins”. The group consists of nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu.

The long-established group has celebrated many achievements in recent years. We have summarized the most important ones for you:

• Innerhalb von fünf Monaten nach der Veröffentlichung wurde das Musikvideo zum Titelsong "Like OOH-AHH" 50 Millionen Mal angesehen. Es war das meistgesehene Debüt Musikvideo einer K-Pop-Gruppe. Später überschritt das Video sogar die 100 Millionen Marke.
• 2016 wurde der Song "Cheer Up" ein riesiger Hit und gewann den Titel "Song des Jahres” bei den Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA).
• In 2017, TWICE successfully debuted in Japan with the single “One More Time”, which broke the record for the best-selling single by a Kpop girl group in Japan.
• In 2018, they held their first arena concert in Japan and released the Japanese album “BDZ”, which reached No. 1 on the Oricon charts.
• In 2019, TWICE started their world tour “TWICELIGHTS”, which was a great success and took place in cities all over the world.
• Mit der Veröffentlichung der Singles "More & More" und "I CAN'T STOP ME" erreichten sie hohe Chartplatzierungen und festigten TWICEs Status als führende K-Pop-Gruppe.
• In 2021, they released their first English-language single “The Feels”, which was successful in various international charts.
• TWICE erreichte 2022 mit dem Album "Formula of Love: O+T=<3" Platz 3 der Billboard 200, ihr höchster Charteinstieg in den USA.
• 2023 veröffentlichten TWICE ihr zwölftes Mini Album "Ready to Be" und kündigte ihre fünfte Welttournee an.

Tzuyu is the youngest member of Twice.

Sie debütierte im Alter von 16 Jahren und erregte dank ihrer Schönheit schnell Aufmerksamkeit. Tzuyu konnte bei ihrem Debüt noch nicht fließend koreanisch sprechen und war eher schüchtern. Im Laufe ihrer Karriere lernte sie aber nicht nur Koreanisch, sondern auch Japanisch und Englisch und hat sich auch gesanglich weiterentwickelt. In 2024 startete Tzuyu sogar eine Solokarriere!

SOLO CAREER

Fast 10 Jahre nach ihrem Debüt mit Twice wagte Tzuyu einen neuen Schritt. Am 6. September 2024 erschien ihr debut solo album “abouTZU”was released. It contains six tracks, including the title track “Run Away”.

This makes Tzuyu the third member of Twice to release her own album. Leader Nayeon made the start in 2022, followed by Jihyo in 2023.

SONGWRITING CREDITS

Tzuyu gab ihr Songwriting Debüt in 2019 mit dem Song “21:29" aus Twice's eighth mini album “Feel Special”. In 2022, she co-wrote the Japanese song “Celebrate” from the album of the same name with the other members of Twice and in 2024 she worked on “Fly” from her debut solo album “abouTZU”.

Tzuyu is known for her beauty and inspires fashion brands worldwide. In 2022, two fashion brands chose her as their muse: the Korean clothing brand “Zooc” and the Japanese cosmetics brand “Visée”. Of course, Tzuyu is also often in front of the camera for fashion magazines and has graced the cover more than once.

• Because of her big eyes and serious attitude, Tzuyu is affectionately called “Yoda” by her band members and fans.
• Tzuyu was one of the first Taiwanese K-Pop idols, together with Mark from GOT7.
• She often sleeps with her eyes open.
• Tzuyu can move her ears.
• She can play the guzheng. This is a classical Chinese instrument with strings.
• Tzuyu makes it into TC Candler's “100 Most Beautiful Faces” list every year. In 2019 she was even number 1.
• She is often referred to as “Evil Maknae” because she is very direct and sometimes cheeky.
• Tzuyu had the most votes from viewers in Sixteen.

Even before her debut, Tzuyu said that she wanted to be known more for her talent and less for her beauty. Although she is still praised for her beautiful face to this day, she has also regularly impressed with her vocals and other talents over the years. Tzuyu may not have the most powerful or exceptional voice, but she has a clear, pleasant tone that is well received by fans.
