BIOGRAPHY

Woozi was born on November 22, 1996, in Busan, South Korea. From an early age, he developed a deep passion for music and began studying classical music, learning to play various instruments including clarinet, piano, guitar, and other orchestral instruments. His musical talent eventually led him to audition for Pledis Entertainment, where he was successfully accepted.
During his time at Pledis Entertainment, he met producer Bumzu, who later became one of his closest musical partners. Over more than five years, Woozi trained intensively in singing, dancing, and, above all, music production, establishing himself as one of the most promising songwriters and producers of his generation.
Woozi graduated from the renowned Hanlim Multi Art School and went on to study at Hanyang University. In 2022, he also enrolled in a master's program at Anyang University. His academic path shows that he continues to keep pushing his musical and artistic development forward.
SEVENTEEN

SEVENTEEN is a South Korean boy group formed by Pledis Entertainment in 2015. Woozi is the leader of the vocal unit.
Woozi debuted on May 26, 2015, as a member of the self-producing group SEVENTEEN with the single „Adore U“. He played a crucial role in shaping their first mini album, 17 Carat, contributing as a songwriter and producer on every track. Since then, he has established himself as the group's main producer and works closely with Bumzu. By January 2019, it was recognized that Woozi had contributed to over 80% of SEVENTEEN's entire discography, and to this day he continues to produce much of the group's music.
Alongside his work for SEVENTEEN, Woozi began writing songs for other artists. In 2016, he co-wrote the song „Feelin‘“ with Ailee, a collaboration with Eric Nam. A year later, he wrote „Downpour,“ the emotional farewell single of project group I.O.I, which received great acclaim for its deeply moving lyrics. In 2017, he composed „Thankful for You“ for Baekho of NU'EST W, released on the group's first mini album, W, Here.
In 2019, Woozi became a full member of the Korea Music Copyright Association.
In 2021, Woozi worked with bandmate Hoshi on his solo song „Spider“, which reached number five on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Charts. That same year, he was honored as Best Producer at the 6th Asia Artist Awards, making him the youngest-ever winner in that category.
On January 3, 2022, Woozi released his first solo mixtape, „Ruby“. The title track was his first fully English-language song and reached number one on the iTunes charts in at least 18 countries, including Chile, Mexico, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
On January 26, 2024, Woozi released the song „What Kind of Future“ as a tribute to his late friend Moonbin (Astro), who passed away in 2023.
SOLO CAREER

Woozi's first solo mixtape, “Ruby,” was officially released on January 3, 2022. The song blends elements of pop-rock and funk and is sung entirely in English, putting Woozi's vocal talent and guitar skills front and center. As songwriter, composer, and producer, he played a decisive role in shaping the track, working alongside his longtime partners Bumzu and Park Ki-tae.
