BIOGRAPHY
Yuqi (Korean: 송우기), born September 23, 1999, is a Chinese singer-songwriter, dancer, producer and model. Her real name is Song Yuqi. She grew up in Beijing, China, where she lived with her parents as an only child. She went to Beijing 101 Middle School. Yuqi was interested in music from an early age. Your strong interest in music may come from your mother listening to a lot of music of many genres while she was pregnant with Yuqi.
Schon in jungen Jahren lernte sie den chinesischen Tanz, Daizu-Tanz. Während ihrer Schulzeit brachte sie sich die Choreografien von Kpop Songs selbst bei. Zu Hause stellte sie sich oft vor, wie sie auf Konzerten auftrat. Sie war damals ein großer Fan von HyunA und dem Choreografie-Stil “Girl Crush”, der anstatt süß, eher sexy, cool und badass ist.
Yuqi nahm 2015 an der CUBE Audition in Peking teil und wurde später für ein zweites Casting kontaktiert. Der Weg zum Idol war nicht einfach für sie, da ihre Eltern strikt dagegen waren. Sie versuchte täglich, ihre Eltern zu überzeugen. Schließlich willigten sie ein, da sie der Meinung waren, dass Yuqi alt genug ist, eigene Entscheidungen zu treffen.
Nachdem sie ihr letztes Casting in Südkorea bestanden hatte, begann Yuqi bald darauf ihr Leben als Trainee. Im Juni 2017 wirkte sie in einem Werbevideo für Rising Star Cosmetics mit. Am 27. Februar 2018 erschien sie in einem Video des YouTube-Kanals Dingo Story, wo sie als CUBE-Trainee auf der Straße vor Passanten sang. Am 2. Mai 2018 debütierte sie mit der Girlgroup (G)I-DLE.
(G)I-DLE
(G)I-dle, is a South Korean girl group from Cube Entertainment. She has conquered the K-pop scene with her unique style and creative sound. The group was officially introduced on May 2, 2018 with the debut EP "I Am" and consisted of six talented members: Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Soojin, Yuqi and Shuhua. Soojin left the group in 2021. They have gained worldwide recognition and popularity with hits such as "LATATA", "HANN (Alone)", "Oh my god" and "DUMDi DUMDi".

- Due to (G)I-DLE's success of the songs "Latata" and "Hann (Alone)", Cube Entertainment's sales increased by 58% percent in 2018.

CAREER
Nach zwei erfolgreichen Jahren innerhalb der Girlgroup (G)I-DLE, konzentrierte sich Yuqi in 2021 hauptsächlich darauf, Solo in China aufzutreten. Im August nahm sie an der chinesischen Survival Show "Stage Boom" teil. Dort trat sie gegen 10 andere weibliche Idols in mehreren Runden an und stellte ihr Können als Sängerin unter Beweis. Im Halbfinale wurde sie dann eliminiert. Am 27. Oktober 2021 sang sie gemeinsam mit anderen den Titelsong "Salute to the Heroes" der Olympischen Winterspiele und der Paralympischen Spiele 2022 in Peking. Im Laufe des Jahres war Yuqi auch in mehreren chinesischen Variety Shows zu sehen, darunter "Keep Running", "Let's Fall In Love 3", "2060" und "Shine! Super Brothers".
After a year, Yuqi returned to South Korea to prepare for (G)I-dle's comeback. In October, (G)I-DLE released their fifth EP "I Love", on which Yuqi contributed to the songs "Reset" and "Dark (X-File)". They went three times platinum for the EP.
Im Februar 2023 veröffentlichten Yuqi und ihr Gruppenmitglied Miyeon den Song "Sweet Dream" als Teil des Soundtracks für die romantische Netflix-Comedy-Serie "Love to Hate You". Im März wurde ihre Teilnahme in Staffel 11 von "Keep Running" bestätigt, einer Reality Variety Show, in der sieben Prominente gegeneinander antreten. On March 22, 2024, it was announced that Yuqi would make her Korean solo debut with the album "Yuq1" in April. The album reached number 2 on the Korean charts and sold almost 500,000 copies.
