15 years after her debut, Sunye finally goes solo!

The Wonder Girls were JYP Entertainmentfirst girl group; one of the label's earliest major successes. They debuted in 2007 and set new milestones in the Korean music industry! By now, the members are all going solo. One of them is releasing her first solo album on July 26!

The Wonder Girls were the first Korean group to enter the American Billboard Hot 100 charts and even went on tour with the Jonas Brothers in 2009. Their hit song "Nobody" is probably even known by many newer fans! The group officially disbanded in 2017. All members but one have since started their own singing careers, some of them while the Wonder Girls were still active. Especially Hyuna and Sunmi still dominate the charts today!

With Sunye, the eighth and last former member of the Wonder Girls will soon release her first solo album!

Sunye stopped her activities with the Wonder Girls in 2013 to get married and had her first daughter in the same year. In 2014, after recording a few more soundtracks and being involved in collaborations, Sunye announced that she was leaving the entertainment industry. After four long years, during which she had two more daughters, the singer announced her return, but it wasn't until 2021 that she actually appeared on stage again. Together with six other idols who are mothers like her, she released the digital single "WooAh HIP" as part of the reality show "Mama the Idol".

Now, again over a year later, Sunye is finally making her solo debut!

Genuine

A few hours ago, the first teaser was released; a slightly blurry photo of Sunye looking over her shoulder at the camera. The teaser tells us that the title track of the album will be called "Glass Heart" and will be released as early as July 19. The album is titled "Genuine" and will be released a good week later, on July 26.

It is rather simple compared to the usual K-pop albums nowadays. Buyers get a 52-page photo book, a folded poster and, of course, a CD. However, it's the simplicity that makes the album so charming: It's all about the music and fans of the singer can finally add a solo album to their collection after so many years. We are excited to hear the new music! With "Glass Heart" already out in less than a week, we don't have to wait much longer for the first listen either!
