If you follow BTS on Twitter and Weverse, you may have already seen the news, but if not, we'll bring you up to speed:
J-Hope is about to start his military service!
Ever since Jin announced his service, we knew that we would soon have to say goodbye to the other members for a while too. Now the time has come. BIGHIT MUSIC told us yesterday in a statement on Weverse the following:
“We would like to inform fans that J-Hope has begun the process of enlistment in the military by applying to end his deferred enlistment.”
Previously, the BTS members had applied to postpone their military service. All idols can do that until they turn 30. The fact that J-Hope has withdrawn this application means that he is ready to begin his service very soon. The rapper is the third-oldest member of BTS.
It seems likely that the second-oldest, Suga, will follow next, or RM, who was born seven months after J-Hope.
Luckily, that doesn't mean we now have to wait 18 months or more for something new from J-Hope. Yesterday, he announced a new single on Twitter!
It's called “on the street” and will be released as early as March 3 at 2 p.m. Korean time. Because of the different time zones, European fans can listen to the song in the morning. “on the street” is J-Hope's first new song since his solo debut with the album “Jack in the Box” in July 2022.
How excited are you about the single?
In the statement on Weverse, BIGHIT also concluded by asking people to keep supporting J-Hope:
“We ask for your continued love and support for J-Hope until he has completed his military service and returns safely.”
No problem, fans are already eagerly waiting for Jin's return, even though he has only been gone for a little more than two months. We'll miss J-Hope just as much.
