IZ*ONE Today - acting roles, shows and Yuri's solo debut

IZ*ONE Heute - Schauspielrollen, Shows und Yuri's Solo Debüt

The hugely popular project group IZ*ONE, which was formed on the survival show Produce 48, disbanded as planned on April 29 of this year after two and a half years. That was almost six months ago now, and although it is still not clear for every member exactly what her future looks like, they have all been or still are involved in various projects.

Many fans don't want to lose sight of anyone, but with twelve members who are almost all signed to different agencies, it isn't exactly easy to follow every career! We kept our eyes open and have gathered all the news about the twelve for you in this article!

Find out more at the end of the article about Yuri's first single album "Glassy", which you can already pre-order in our shop!

Kwon Eunbi

The former leader of IZ*ONE was the first of the members to dare a solo debut and released her album “Open” on August 24, which contains five more songs besides the title track “Door”. On TikTok, Eunbi posted a series of videos as part of the “Door Challenge” in which she dances the choreography to her song with other artists. To the delight of fans, some IZ*ONE members such as Chaeyeon and Minju were part of it too. Nako and Hitomi even filmed a video together in Japan for Eunbi's challenge!

Kim Chaewon

Like Eunbi, Chaewon is a trainee under Woollim Entertainment, which is why it was assumed that the two would debut together in a girl group. Eunbi's solo debut has put an end to those considerations, however. In the meantime there are rumors that Chaewon has left Woollim and moved to HYBE. This has not yet been officially confirmed, but since Chaewon is no longer listed as an artist at Woollim, fans are at least sure that she has found herself a new agency.

Miyawaki Sakura

All three Japanese members of IZ*ONE returned to Japan after the group's disbanding in April, back to their original group AKB48. However, Sakura already announced in May that she would leave AKB48 and gave a farewell concert in June. On the occasion of her “Graduation”, a photo book was also released.

Since mid-August, rumors have persisted that, like Chaewon, she would sign a contract with HYBE and that the two would debut together in a new girl group under the sub-label Source Music. According to rumors, this girl group will have five members and consist of Sakura, Chaewon, Huh Yunjin - who also took part in Produce 48 - and possibly even a third IZ*ONE member. Although that definitely sounds exciting and would surely please some fans, HYBE has not commented on these rumors so far.

Yabuki Nako

IZ*ONE's smallest member Nako has been active again in HKT48, the sister group of AKB48, since her return to Japan. It was just confirmed that she will play a supporting role in the Japanese series “Kao Dake Sensei”! We wish her lots of success with it!

Honda Hitomi

Hitomi has returned to her activities as a member of AKB48. Just yesterday, a street dance version of AKB48's new single “根も葉もRumor” was uploaded to YouTube, in which Hitomi performs with another AKB member and a professional dance crew.

Jang Wonyoung

The youngest member of IZ*ONE has returned to her agency Starship Entertainment and has mostly been seen in photo shoots since April. Recently, Wonyoung had to spend her birthday (August 31) in quarantine because she tested positive for COVID. She has since recovered and has announced that from October 8 she will host “Music Bank” together with Sunghoon of Enhypen!

Fans assume that Starship Entertainment is planning a girl group in which Wonyoung will debut together with her agency colleague An Yujin.

An Yujin

Yujin has been hosting the music show “Inkigayo” since the beginning of the year, which is why her fans can see her on TV regularly. She had to pause her activities at the end of August because she tested positive for COVID shortly after Wonyoung. Yujin has also recovered in the meantime and communicates with her fans on Instagram.

Kim Minju

Minju is the first member of IZ*ONE who took a job as a host; she has been a regular on “Show! Music Core” since June 2020 and still hosts the show today.

Quite a few fans think that the third member being talked about for the HYBE girl group is Minju, because according to the rumors, the third person is wavering between a career as an idol singer or an actress. Minju was already seen in smaller acting roles before her debut in IZ*ONE and also starred in a film (The Fault Is Not Yours) during her time in the girl group. Now she is even listed as an actress at her agency Urban Works Media. So we hope that we can see her in a new role very soon!

Choi Yena

IZ*ONE was regularly seen together in variety and reality shows, but Yena in particular had already been out and about on her own a lot since 2019. Back then she was part of the regular cast of “Prison Life of Fools”, and in 2020 she appeared in the adventure reality show “Girls High School Mystery Class”. Even before IZ*ONE officially disbanded, it was also confirmed that she would join the regular cast of “Idol Dictation Contest” and “Fireworks Handsome”. So fans didn't have to wonder for the time being when they would see Yena next. But despite the many appearances in entertainment shows, we can assume that Yena will be back on stage as an idol in the future. At first it was speculated that she would join the six-member girl group Everglow, which debuted in 2019 and is also signed to Yuehua Entertainment. In the meantime, however, there are rumors about a solo debut!

Lee Chaeyeon

Chaeyeon is regarded by many as the best dancer of the fourth generation of idol groups, so it was probably no big surprise that the first project she took on after IZ*ONE has to do with dance. At the end of August, the first episode of “Street Woman Fighter” aired; a survival show in which eight professional dance crews compete against each other until the finale at the end of October to prove their talent. Chaeyeon is the only idol in the show and had to take quite a bit of criticism because most viewers think she can't keep up with the professional dancers. Of course, that doesn't stop her from giving her best until the end!

Besides Street Woman Fighter, Chaeyeon is already involved in other projects: Yesterday, the first episode of “Get It Beauty K-Box” aired, a program in which she and E-Tion of the boy group ONF listen to the beauty problems of Vietnamese viewers and put together a box of make-up and care products for them that are meant to solve those problems.

Kang Hyewon

Three weeks ago, 8D Entertainment confirmed that Hyewon has landed a role in the web drama "Best Mistake 3", whose first episode is due to air before the end of the year. So it seems that Hyewon, like Minju, is interested in an acting career! After IZ*ONE disbanded, Hyewon was mainly seen in photo spreads for fashion magazines, once even together with Jo Yuri.

Jo Yuri

Yuri has announced the release of her first single album “Glassy” and is thus, after Eunbi, the second member of IZ*ONE to debut solo. “Glassy” will be released on October 8 and, besides a 64-page photo book and the CD, will also include a number of extras. These include a message card with paper holder, two of 12 photo cards, one of two lenticular cards and a sticker set. A poster is optionally included with pre-orders. With a lot of luck, one of 40 extremely limited Polaroids might also be included! Of course, you can also find the album in our shop.

New photos are published on Yuri's official Instagram account almost daily, showing us a fairytale concept, starting with the first pictures in which Yuri holds a glass slipper in her hand.

As if all that weren't exciting enough, Yuri, Chaeyeon and Hyewon are filming a new show together! Not even a week ago, posters of the three of them wearing hanboks appeared on Instagram. Judging by the suitcase, they will be traveling together and let us be part of it! It's nice to see that the members of IZ*ONE are still active together despite being at different agencies, and it shows the deep friendship that has grown between them over the last few years.
