After 10 years, we have to say goodbye to the boy group NU’EST, whose members have decided to go their own ways. These 10 years were not always easy, because the group was even close to disbanding back in 2017, but the guys have kept gifting their fans with new music up to this day and have created many good memories.

The boy group debuted on March 15, 2012 with the single “Face”. That makes NU’EST part of the 3rd generation of K-Pop. Some would even place them in the second one, since the third generation began in 2012.
In 2017, NU’EST was close to disbanding because their previous releases had not been particularly successful. In a last attempt to gain attention once more, four of the five members - JR, Baekho, Minhyun and Ren - joined the second season of the survival show Produce 101. While they were still taking part in the show, their most recently released albums climbed in the charts. All four made it into the top 20 and thus into the finale. Minhyun even reached 9th place and thereby won a spot in the eleven-member project group Wanna One!
The other 4, including Aron, who had not taken part, formed the sub-unit NU’EST W and released 3 albums, all of which reached No. 1 on the Korean charts. Since Wanna One disbanded in 2019, NU’EST have released six more albums as a five-piece, most recently “Romanticize” in April 2021. After that, no new album came out for almost a year, and a few days ago Pledis Entertainment announced that the members’ exclusive contract has expired. Baekho and Minhyun have renewed their contracts, while Aron, JR and Ren have decided to leave the agency. All five confirmed in handwritten letters that NU’EST will disband.
As a farewell gift, the boy group is releasing one last album, which will come out on March 15, exactly 10 years after their debut.
The Best Album ‘Needle & Bubble’
As the title suggests, “Needle & Bubble” is supposed to be a compilation album that will contain the boy group’s biggest hits. We don’t know yet whether there will also be a new song, but we’re not giving up hope! According to Twitter, the tracklist is supposed to be released on March 11!
What we know for sure, though, is that the album will contain lots of extras. The choice is easy, because there is only one version. It contains the CD, a 100-page photo book, an 8-page lyrics booklet, one of 5 postcards, 2 of 12 photo cards and one of 5 message bookmarks.
